SSCCN initiated another critical care nursing workshop related to the vital organ resuscitation in critically. The Cardiac Update Workshop included brief lectures and skills stations involved in haemodynamic monitoring, interpretation of basic ECG rhythms and cardiac advanced cardiac life support. The second such workshop is the Respiratory Update with a spread of lectures and skills stations including training on mechanical ventilation for critically ill. These programs havee pre and post workshop assessment questionnaires to assess learning outcomes
SSCCN firmly believes that to improve the care in managing critically ill all health care professionals need to update their knowledge and skills in this highly specialised and rapidly progressing field. The SSCCN team organise the Medical Emergencies Workshop to enhance the knowledge and skills while making a special emphasis on team work to succeed in such situations
On the 5th of April 2016 SSCCN organised in collaboration with SSCCEM a demonstration/workshop on Advanced Life Support. The two Australian Instructors did a brief discussion and training program for a small group of critical care nurses.
Sri Lankan Society of Critical Care Nurses was born on the 10th of October 2014. A group of volunteer critical care nurses involved in clinical and academic critical care came forward to form the first Council of SSCCN which is headed by Ms RADC Karunaratne.
